Crossfade
Crossfade是来自南卡罗莱纳的重摇滚（一说Hard Rock/Post-Grunge）团体，由主唱兼吉他手Ed Sloan、Bass以及合声Mitch James、鼓手Brian Geiger在1999年组成了一支叫做The Nothing的三人乐队，2002年的时候将名字改为Crossfade。乐队被洛杉矶一家A&R公司发掘，并最终与Sony旗下的哥伦比亚唱片公司签约。2004年4月，Crossfade发行了他们的首张同名专辑，专辑中的单曲Cold在Billboard当代摇滚榜上拿到了第二名的好成绩。（发行这张专辑时还有一个主唱、和声、打碟turntables和samping的全能的叫Tony Byroads的成员，可能被开除了，后来就没出现了）这个乐队节奏分明，主唱声音变化极大，强烈的鼓声节奏，Crossfade的音乐很容易可以找到许多重摇滚或是重金属乐团的影子。
2004年4月，Crossfade发行了他们的首张同名专辑，专辑中的单曲Cold在Billboard当代摇滚榜上拿到了第二名的好成绩。值得一提的是，当时那张专辑在审查的时候歌词中有少量的粗话，但只发行了Clean版，而没有发行Explicit版。乐队成员解释说，公司没给足够的钱同时发行两个版本，但是当时卖唱片的钱对乐队来说非常重要，所以他们为了能够扩大销量不得不只发Clean版，因为很多像沃尔玛(Wal-Mart)这样的店是不卖Explicit版的唱片的..

成长历程
来自英国Devon的海湾小镇Teignmouth的Muse乐队，成员年纪并不大，个个长着一张娃娃脸，但是他们的在音乐界的资历并不 浅。1998年就出道的他们，在乐坛已经沉浮六载。乐队成员分别是词曲创作、歌手、吉他手兼键盘手Matt Bellamy，贝司手 Chris Wolstenholm，鼓手Dominic Howard。
三个人在12、13岁，正值青春期的时候组成了自己的乐队，叫GothicPlague。三个年轻人马不停蹄地奔赴各种场合、俱乐部或者 酒吧演出。乐队名也从开始的GothicPlague换作了FixedPenalty，又换作了RocketBabyDolls。直到1997年，他们才 最后选择了Muse作为乐队的名字。此时，年纪轻轻的他们已经有了近10年的组团历史、5年的俱乐部表演经验了。
英国的音乐工业无法让他们感到更多的兴趣，他们开始把注意力集中在美国音乐。1998年，Muse参加了在曼城举办的一个名叫TasteMedia的比赛，结果脱颖而出，立刻获得许多美国唱片公司的兴趣，相继邀请他们至纽约、洛杉矶等地表演。
经过在欧洲及美国的各大音乐节上的表演，他们引起了歌迷的广泛注意，并且很快成为1999年最受瞩目的年轻英国乐队之一。其后，Muse 在洛杉矶率先与Madonna的唱片公司Maverick签约，而德国的Motor、法国的Naive、英国的Mushroom等唱片公司亦相继与他们签 约。之后乐队转投到半主流厂牌Mushroom Records旗下，随即推出乐队的处女唱片《Showbiz》，这张慢热的唱片虽然在英国没有大红大 紫，但是他们鲜明紧凑的音乐节奏所带来的爆发力，却为他们赢得了美国市场的青睐。
在1999年完成的一个世界和英国的巡回演出后，他们发行了新的单曲《UNO》和《Sunburn》，并在年底赢得了《NME》杂志评选的1999年“最佳新晋乐团”。
随着乐队知名度的不断扩展，以及在世界各地不断演出的锤炼，Muse乐队也开始为乐队确定出以后的音乐发展方向。迄今为止，乐队已经发表了 三张音乐专辑，分别是2001年的《Origin Of Symmetry》以及去年发表的新专辑《Absolution》。与同时代众多的英国乐队相 比，这个摇滚三人组合的音乐极富爆炸性，总是给人以激情四溢的感觉，这样的乐风和美国另类摇滚的风格有些不谋而合，所以他们能够受到美国市场的关注，甚至 还曾被麦当那的音乐公司Maverick青睐就不足为奇了。而乐队的真正野心却是要在他们的音乐中，融入古典音乐的元素，创造出一种与众不同的古典摇滚乐 风，因为乐队的主唱Matt Bellamy从小学习钢琴，受到古典音乐的影响很深，并且经常聆听如帕格尼尼以及拉赫马尼诺夫等古典音乐大师的作品，所以 乐队成员不想只是被人看作是一支平庸的摇滚乐队，而是要站在古典传统的基础上，将摇滚乐的内涵发扬光大。在新专辑《Absolution》当中，他们将古 典主义的心境与摇滚乐的激情共冶一炉，将歌剧花腔的演唱技巧、美丽迷人的钢琴乐韵以及吉他噪音有机地结合，创作出了一种前所未有的古典摇滚风范，受到英国 乐评人的强烈称赞，称他们的音乐是巴洛克摇滚的旗帜。
